Deacon John

 

The name “Deacon” came from those early days when he opted a preaching style of singing that sent his audiences into what can only be called religious ecstasy, dancing, shouting, falling out on the floor, and throwing money on the stage. Deacon John and the Ivories concentrate on the Motown and Memphis Soul music as well as local Rhythm and Blues.

The Distractions

The Distractions are an eight-piece dance band featuring both male and female vocals, as well as a three-piece horn section. The band prides itself on being one of New Orleans’ best dance and party bands, playing ‘70-‘80s funk and disco, old school R&B, and other party favorites.  Throw in rhythm, melody and the Incredible Dancing Horns and you have found your audio and visual sensation. The Distractions perform in clubs and festivals around the area, but their specialty is weddings. For your special day the band will learn a request of your choice for your dance, provided the song is feasible and enough notice is given.

Figure 8

Figure 8 is a show and dance band primarily focusing on Motown and R&B hits. The song list ranges from the 50’s to the 90’s, from Sam Cooke to Garth Brooks and from the Supremes to the Pointer Sisters. Figure 8 has a song list to satisfy audiences of all ages. A tight rhythm section and hard-driving vocals are what makes this group a Southeast favorite. Variety music, costume changes, and choreography are a trademark of Figure 8 to ensure a successful event.
